Merry Christmas 2015

Merry Christmas 2015

It is the week before Christmas day on Friday and the guys have stopped work this week.
We are not sure when they will commence again and it is likely the week after New Year 2016.

We thank God for this exciting year end activity and that our house has progressed thus far.
Merry Christmas y'all !!

The Roof is Rising Up

Roof construction has started on the rafters and struts at the front and rear of the house. Internal recessed ceilings framework were also completed.

We are amazed at the speed these guys are working on the roof.
Sophie (babysitting Noah) came along after Zara and Caleb's Saturday swim to view the house.

Our neighbour's bricks were also delivered on Friday and they must be excited that their house will be coming up soon.

Roof - Day One

At the end of roof day one, they have started laying the top plate of wall (timber that sits on top of the internal wall) and the ceiling joist (runs opposite 90 degrees).

Work on the Roof

HH informed us that we have reached plate high stage (all brick works are completed) and the next phase is the roof construction.

We went over in the morning after dropping Caleb to daycare and we saw the workmen have started getting the timber ready and yes, roof work has started.

Missing Wall?

"Houston, we have a problem."

Well, not actually a problem but we are missing a wall to the mastersuite entrance.

Don't panic.
Brickies are going back tomorrow to build up the wall.

Brickworks 99% Completed

We were excited to see the Bluepine treated timber delivered which will prepare for the next phase, the Roof. These timbers are for the roof beams, rafters, joists and are treated against the European Borer pests.

The brick works are  99% done and at height. We walked around the house with an amazing feeling that our house is finally in shape and that work is progressing quite rapidly.

It is quite amusing to see Caleb wandering around the house, going from room to room and calling out to us "where are you?"

Increasing Height

Working on scaffoldings, the brickies have started increasing the height of the walls to 28C and 31C (~2.4m). They have also completed the 4 supporting pillars at the rear of the house, at the alfresco area.

Men at Work

We went for an early morning drive to the house and saw the men at work, building up the external west wall.

The slab was laid on 22 October and it has been 1 month since.

The walls are still coming up and they are working on the eastern wall (laundry and front bathroom side). The kitchen window frames are also in place.

The Kitchen is Up

We visited the house on Saturday together with Jane.
It was a very hot 38 degrees day but we are still excited with seeing the house progressing nicely.

Rear Door Frames are Up

We brought Sally, on short work visit from Sydney, to the house in the evening and met with our next door neighbour Anthony and his son Xavier.

The rear door frames are up and the external bricks have started at the front, from the study room side.

Taking Shape

More walls are coming up and there is predicted rain for the next few days. Hopefully that does not delay and hamper the brickies work too much.

Karen was taking photos at the front and met our next door neighbour Anthony. We met his wife Tash earlier. We have met most of our new neighbours across the road and they are all friendly and have kids. Thank God for this lovely family orientated neighbours.

Oh No !! The Wine Cellar Window ?!

We noticed there is a beam or mullion at the centre of the wine cellar window.
It should be a one piece glass window.
What happened?

We missed that out in the final drawings.

One  #@$#%%*&;!! beep beep .. little line.

However, managed to get HH to fix it by removing the mullion and re-order full pane glass.

Work has Started

We drove by the lot on Thursday night and saw that they have started work.

The window and door frames were moved to location, and the walls have started to come up at the front rooms. Exciting !

We went over the very next day and could see the internal walls have started towards the middle of the house.

Bricks Delivered

We flew back to Perth from KL on Saturday 7 November and visited our lot on Sunday 8 November.

We were not expecting it but were both delighted and excited when we saw the bricks, window and door frames, cement and all the works delivered to site. It won't be long now before the walls start coming up.

We are leaving back to KL in the afternoon but after receiving email from HH that the slab was poured this morning, we had to go and have a look.

Our Land is ready to Rumble !!

HH notified us that earthworks will commence from Thursday 15 October and slab will be laid down on the following Wednesday 21 October

We went over on Sunday 11 October and saw that the land has already been cleared and compacted. We are excited and looking forward to the slab and building.
